Hi, I’m a self taught photographer and absolutely enjoy freezing moments in a photographic frame. This photo was taken in a small beautiful place called Los Pascuales, in Colima, México. We were driving back from the beach to our hotel and the moment was just perfect, the lighting couldn’t be better, I pulled over and took the shot from my car windowTime
While I was enjoying a wonderful time at the beach with my family, I noticed the sun was setting somewhere behind the town a d I was kind of bummed about it (because I had not taken a good photo of it) so we started our drive back out of Los Pascuales heading to Colima, about a 20 minute drive, but before long, I was exited about the possibility of getting a good shot of the sunset. I’ll never forget the feeling! The time of this photo was 5:16 pm (local time there) October 19th 2015Lighting
As a self taught photographer, this frame it’s always on my lsit of images. I remember seen a photo like this in a magazine when I was a child but it was a photo somewhere in Africa. The colors, the silhouettes the dark contrasts just fascinated me. So when I happen to look to my left on this day, I just had to stop the car (safely to the side of the road) and take couple of shots of this perfect natural lightingEquipment
I took the photo with a Sony SLT A58 and the lens is DT 18-55mm @ f6.3 ISO 100 and 1/320”. No tripod or flash was usedInspiration
What inspired me was a photo I saw in a magazine as a child somewhere in Africa of a golden sunset behind some trees. This is a close as I’ll got to that for nowEditing
I used the curve for a more drmatic shine and also played with colors a bit. It wss all done with on a single image in LightroomIn my camera bag
I most always have two bodies, a A58 with a Cigma 18-300mm and a A7 full frame mirror less and carry my Zeiss f1.4 35mm as well as my newest Zeiss f1.8 85mm A carry an external 85mm sony flash with a remote trigger. No room in my bag for a tripod, that I carry by hand (if needed)Feedback
My advise would be to know where you are, in terms of the lighting (if you’re using the sunlight) and get ahead by positioning yourself where your frame is at the prime time. Although, some great shots can be taken by being on the right spot with your camera handy.
