This photo was made at downtown Canby Wait Park, as we did not have enough time to go anywhere else (my original plan was to travel to a much open area in the Portland area, Cathedral Park)Time
The photo was nade on Oct/06/2018 at 2:54 pm. Sometimes we can have nice open sky but that day was somewhat cloudy but the lighting was good enough for the sessionLighting
I had arranged with Sebastián’s mom for the senior photos some days in advance and my idea was to go to Portland but he ended up not having enough time, so we settled for a darker landscape but nice soft lighting beneath the park trees. It turned to be a nice photo after all.Equipment
I used my Sony a7 with my super nice 35mm-f1.4 Zeiss lens. The settings were 1/64 at f/1.6 and ISO 100. No flash used, but I don’t recall using a tripodInspiration
Since my model had an army-green light jacket and his hair is black, I decided to have a more green background that would go with him.Editing
For this photo I decreased the shadows a bit as well as the highlights and reduced some whites too. I set some of the color saturation some and gave it a soft dark vignetteIn my camera bag
I always have my Ilce7 with my prime 35 mm-f1.4 Zeiss lens. What a perfect combination!Feedback
I’ve learned that the new(er) Sony full size frame cameras have an amazing ability to recover details from a somewhat-under exposed photo. I have not tried any other equipment but I don’t feel the need when I can have amazing results with this combination.
