Location
Living in the deep south of the US does not afford many opportunities for ice photography (except in fridge, lol). Last winter was an exception. I found this lovely formed ice cycle on my outdoor faucet at homeTime
I took the shot in the middle of the day. I decided to take the edit to highlight the ice and minimize surroundings.Lighting
Lighting can be adjusted and fixed in (some) shots. I thought the center light with surrounding darkness would draw attention to the subject.Equipment
Only my trusty NIkon D5300 with Tamron lens 14-400mmInspiration
I get excited with almost every subject. This being an infrequent occasion with below freezing temps made this a memory to record.Editing
I used lightroom with radial and graduated filters to darken the perimeter and highlight the ice cycle. In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D5300 with Tamron 14-400mm lens and a dedicated macro in my bag. These 2 cover just about any scenerio I shoot. Always.... a lens cloth.Feedback
Look around u. There are may everyday or unusual things in your immediate surroundings. Shoot shoot shoot.
