Behind The Lens

Location

The Photo was taken in Pyrénées Mountains, France on the Soulcem's dam. I'm a self taught photographer since my childhood. I haven't shot landscapes for a long time ago ... I'm fond of People, or way of life photography but when I saw these colours and that light, I have to shoot !

Time

It was taken at 11:00 Am on the 29/10/2017. A great great day for the last October's days ! The sky was blue without any clouds... sun was shining, a little wind not as cold... Perfect sensations !

Lighting

I wanted an "upside down" shot ... mirroring the mountain in the "bath lake"... The natural mountain shadow offer me beautifull green colours in the lake ... I didn't believe in my eyes ! And ... Here it is !

Equipment

I used a Canon 5D mark4 with a Canon 24-70 F2.8 at 50. I didn't use a tripod because at iso100 I was shooting at 1/250.

Inspiration

Nothing really exciting to say there. I was walking around the lake and I just saw this tree full of autumn's leaves melted in the green colour ... I just said to myself "Here is my shot !"

Editing

I've just correct a little bit the white balance and enhance contrast. I lowered the highlights too and correct the red, orange, and green colours to make it more poetic with a surrealistic touch.

In my camera bag

I have my 5D Mark4, Canon 24-70 F2.8, Canon 70-200 F4, Sigma Art 35 F1.4 and my favorite Sigma Art 85 F1.4 !

Feedback

Difficult to advice ! You have to be in the right place in the right time ! I went back at the place 15mn later and the magical scene was gone. I focus my mind like I was in box to just frame what I want you see after the shot. After that practicing a lot to know your equipment perfectly will make you win a lot of time and like in sport contest : Ready, set, shoot !
