I took this photo in a studio in Moscow that specialises in steampunk scenery.Time
Though the image was taken indoors and time of the day does not really matter it was important that we started our session at about 4 pm and nobody in our group was sleepy.Lighting
The idea that we tried to fulfil through lighting setup was to make impression that model sits in front of a window.Equipment
Camera: Nikon D800E; Lens: Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85; no tripod, two Profoto flashes with softboxes.Inspiration
My wife (she is a makeup artist) and i like to create new images for people so they can see themselves from a new prospective so when Anna, a friend of ours asked us for creating an image of steampunk adventurous scientist I thought "Why not?"Editing
Not really, just some minor colour adjustmentIn my camera bag
My 'default' set is: Nikon D800E, Nikkor 28-105 f/3.5-4.5, Tamron 15-30 f2.8 and Voigtländer 40 f/2.0. Sometimes I take my Fujifilm X-100T, just in case.Feedback
Making portraits is mainly not about techniques. It is more about imagination and inspiration. See the story you want to tell the world about your model and once you see it, just do the needful.
