Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a living room with a studio setup as a learning project.

Time

The photo was taken in the afternoon with a combination of natural and off camera flash.

Lighting

The behind the black background was an off camera flash and white umbrella and natural light from a window.

Equipment

The shot was taken with a Nikon camera on a tripod. The pepper was secured on a fork and steam was generated with a hand steamer.

Inspiration

This was taken with an informal group of friends learning about off camera lighting.

Editing

Very little post processing was done on this photo. Only some slight level adjustments were required.

In my camera bag

I travel light in my bag with up to two lenses in the bag and one on the camera, tripod and flash trigger.

Feedback

It was all about the lighting. We experimented with several flash settings on the off camera flash until the steam was back lit to perfection.
