Location
This photo was taken at the Hilton Garden Inn Hartford's lobby, during a family visit in CT. They have a large hanging lamp array. These 4 lamp section made for a very pleasing composition. I thought I could show them in B&W to create some drama.Time
During the evening, while waiting for dinner to be served.Lighting
The paper like translucence of the lamps, and the oriental outside ribs design, gave the perfect opportunity to use a high contrast exposure to make the lamps appear as if they were floating in darkness, while at the same time showing their form.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100, with a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8.Inspiration
They reminded me of pictures I've seen of oriental paper lamps that people release on to the sky. I was wondering if I could show these the same way.Editing

My travel equipment is: D7100 body, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, Tokina 100 f/2.8 or Nikkor 105 f/2.8 macro lens, Nikkor 70-300 AfS VR.Feedback
You never know when a photo opportunity is going to show up. You have to be prepared to look for them at any moment.
