Behind The Lens

Location

Utrecht, Netherlands

Time

Evening of a sunny autumn day. You can just make out the sun shining at the tops of the reflected buildings in the water, painting them in gold.

Lighting

I suppose this falls under the golden hour category. I wasn't planning for it, just happened to be in that location at that time

Equipment

Pentax K-x, kit lens. For a simple outdoor shot I didn't really need more

Inspiration

It was a beautiful location. I was walking along the streets and canals and saw a way down to the water level that looked like a good opportunity. The curving street combined with old brickwork arches and reflection in the water all worked out.

Editing

Nothing special, just basic corrections - exposure curves, white balance, saturation, etc.

In my camera bag

I've seen upgrade to a Pentax K-3 II. For lens, it's some combination of kit lens, macro, telephoto, and sometimes a tilt-shift to play around with. If I know I'll have the opportunity to use it, a tripod, a hotshoe flash, and a set of ND filters.

Feedback

Travel, explore, keep your eyes open. Old architecture, water reflections, arches or entryways framing the view are good bets.
