I took this photo in my home. What I like to call my studio is really just a small desk in my laundry room.Time
I took this photograph in the middle of the day during nap time for my almost 1 year old daughter. She runs my photography schedule and as soon as she goes to sleep off I go to my studio/laundry room.Lighting
I've never been an expert on lighting and until recently never used anything to light my photographs other than the sun. Over the last year having a new baby nearby has forced me to learn more about indoor lighting and for that I'm grateful. This photograph was taken in a light box I made out of a cardboard box and some white pillow cases. It has been a joy experimenting with it and continuing to learn more.Equipment
I used my Nikion D5200 camera with an 18-55mm lense and an extension tube.Inspiration
My 8 year old daughter and I collected a box of things this summer to photograph on the cold winter days. She loves to see the macro creations that come of such simple things and it brings me such joy to see the look on her face when she sees the final photo. Always such amazement in her eyes. She is my biggest fan.Editing
Again, being self taught I'm definitely far from understanding all the processing. I always shoot in RAW and hope for the best. I took the saturation down, brought up the highlights, and took the shadows down. With this I was happy. In my camera bag
The first thing I check for when I pack my bag is an extra battery and memory card. You never know what you may run across and I like to know I'm prepared! I keep my 300mm lense, my 18-55mm lense and extension tubes with me always.Feedback
Look at the little things that surround you daily and find an appreciation for them. That alone will come through in your photos. Move them around in the light, study them. Let them tell their story to you.
