Location
This was taken along the shore of Lake Superior near Split Rock State Park.Time
This was actually shot in mid-day sun. The harsh contrast of the mid-day sun led this to being a nice b/w photo with plenty of texture and contrast.Lighting
Nothing to really say about lighting as it was all natural mid-day sun.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3 and the 24-70/F2.8 Nikkor lens. (24mm, ISO 200, 1/800 @ f/7.1)Inspiration
Was working with a model and exploring nudes in the landscape. I liked the rocky shoreline along Lake Superior and found a spot I could have her curl up within the flow of the shoreline. We tried a few different ideas but this is the one I kept from that location.Editing
This has minimal adjustments done to it before B/W conversion. Just minor tweaks to clarity, whites, and blacks in Lightroom. After that the conversion to black and white was done with the Nik plugin Silver EFX.In my camera bag
At the time it was my D3, 24-70, and 70-200 for lens. Now I usually have my D800, 16-35, 50, and 70-200 with me along with a few filters.Feedback
Patience and pre-visualization helps a lot. When working in the landscape look for the leading lines, textures, etc. Working with a model be clear on what you are looking for and then be open to additional ideas or poses that model may be comfortable doing or suggesting. Working with a model is a team effort!
