I'm self taught and LOVE to take pictures. I started taking pictures at the dog shows where I show my Great Danes. This photo is at a WildLife Refuge on our way to Florida to compete at Eukanuba.Time
It was late afternoon and we had been driving all night and the following day and wanted to stretch our legs. We saw a sign for a wild life refuge and I saw an opportunity for pictures at the same time. It was so peaceful and so beautiful I could have stayed there for hours.Lighting
The setting was perfect with a beautiful reflection on the water.Equipment
All I had on me was my Nikon D3200. I had the 18-55 mm lens on at the time.Inspiration
I love to look at the beauty in everything......even a swamp. We took the long way to Florida along the coast just to find scenery like this. Living in Oklahoma doesn't give you many opportunities to take in this kind of beauty so of course I wanted a picture of it.Editing
I do a lot of work in Lightroom and move over to photoshop when I'm done there. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D3200 with me. I hated having to switch lenses all the time so I have a Tamron 16-300 mm lens now that I love and use all the time. I keep a tripod handy and an external flash.Feedback
Have patience and wait for the right lighting and for any wildlife to be settled and calm. In this case the clouds had rolled in and the water was perfectly still setting the reflection. Normally I would say that planning has everything to do with it but on this day I walked in and at the perfect time by chance. I like to jump in my car and just drive until I see something that catches my eye. Keep your camera with you everywhere you go because you NEVER know when an opportutnity will arise.
