No manipulations here as seen there is usually a natural haze which acts as a filter over DubaiEquipment
Tripod and Panasonic GH4 Camera 12-35mm lens lee graduated and Polarizing filterInspiration
I was on a photographic trip staying with my brother who has now lived there for 20 years and has really seen the growth of Dubai. He took me to a number of locations including a half built office block and his friends house in the desert looking back at Dubai so really had some great insight and view points. So I wanted to get one landscape which expressed the new city shooting upwards out of the sea, as Dubai is still very much still in its infancyEditing
Usually I don't do a lot of post production but on this photograph I probably did the most I have ever done on one photo inspired by a Scott Kelby photograph. A standard flip of the sky line made the most amazing foreground transformation (before the choppy sea made a natural reflection impossible.) Taken with a Polarizing filter to reduce glare and reflection the actual original is flat and uninteresting. The addition of some clarity helped reduce the haze otherwise thats about it.In my camera bag
Still have the Panasonic GH4 but have been trying to obtain my ARPS in natural history for the Royal Photographic Society. So I completely had to switch to Nikon Full frame in order to max the quality. So now my bag is more like an industrial size suitcase just what I was trying to avoid containing a Nikon D750 105mm Macro,F5.6 200-500mm (great lens and price),24mm f1.8, TC1.4, TC2.0,70-200mm F2.8, 50mm f1.4 85mm f1.4 portrait lens all Nikon . Also a series seven set of Lee hard and soft grad stoppers and polarizing Filters max filter size 72mm. Working on back strengthening exercises and a new wife when she adds up all this expenditure!!Feedback
Fly to Dubai about £500 or live in 100 degree heat and humidity for 7 months of the year, or visit relatives who work in that part of the world, dont go in the Summer months camera could explode or mist up in the humidity. Dont eat out dont even think about drinking a bottle of wine with the meal. Get your rich brother to pay expenses and drive you around or try the metro great value. Do not even think about asking a member of the royal family for a model release or shoot anyone in a Burkha they are covered for a reason, stick to the Sky scrapers and buildings. But seriously the UAE is probably the most liberal country in the area but do take note of all there laws and customs. Great light as anywhere golden hours are best you will be lucky to get a cloud in the sky
