Location
The photo was taken at Rossbeigh Beach, Glenbeigh in Ireland. I am a self taught photographer, so every shoot is a new lesson for me. I remember the day as if it was yesterday but it was nearly 5 years ago. It was an annual event of horse raices at the beach that I was going to go no matter what.Time
This is one of my favorite images as I have never seen clouds being so low and the humidity was extremely high. I remember the struggle whether to get ready and go or stay indoors. I flew to Ireland while feeling unwell. I was coughing a lot, couldn't speak and struggled to breath - I did not get clear diagnoses from the doctors by the time I needed to fly there. But I thought to myself I must go as I might not have another chance to see the races. I was walking a good distance to the beach but been taking all in and enjoying the views. This was taken on August 22, 2015 at 12:29 PM.Lighting
The beach is very beautiful and I was lucky enough to have perfect conditions for a great shot. The sun gave me the light that I needed and humidity did the drama bit. The weather changes very often there so had to be quick. What comes to the composition I somehow see it when I get to the place.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon PowerShot SX170 IS, with an 5mm f/8 lens. I had no tripod or other equipment with me at the time.Inspiration
The nature itself inspires me mostly. I have never been to Ireland before so I was taking in as much as I could from the few days that I spent there. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the nature there - the mountains, beach, clouds. You don't get that in London! Landscaping is still my favorite even though I love flower photography too.Editing
I usually try to catch the moment as it is and get the right settings by taking many shots. It is much harder with the landscaping than flower photography. I used Adobe Lightroom in this photograph to highlight the sky and reduce shadows in the mountains. I was only getting use to to work with Adobe programs and I have to admit it was very challenging at first. In my camera bag
My equipment has changed a lot since this photo has been taken. I still have my old camera but I can not imagine my bag without Canon EOS 70D, lenses 24mm and 50mm, extra battery, camera cleaning kit, a tripod, an ND, ND2, ND4 filters that I am still learning on how to correctly use them and a couple of memory cards just in case. A macro lense would be a dream come true!Feedback
Be prepared for the weather changes and take a look at where to position yourself best when you arrive. Keep in mind that a lot depends on the photographer no matter what equipment you are with at the time. It might not be perfectly sharp image but still a great capture. Live in the moment and do your best to capture it. If I had another chance I would be more prepared on camera settings and use of a tripod.
