The photo was taken at Palanga Beach, Lithuania. It was a relaxing evening walk through the beach with my Mom. We were taking a few more photographs of each other. I will always remember this day. It's very special to me. I am a self taught photographer, so every shoot is a new lesson for me.Time
This photograph was taken right before the sun dissapeared in the horizon. Me and my Mom wanted to have a nice walk through the beach before the bed time. It was a beautiful peaceful evening and I always try to use every bit of good weather when I am on vacation. It was taken back in 2015 September 17th at around 5:05 PM (7:05 UK time).Lighting
I wanted this image to capture the clouds, the moon and the golden line of the sky. The washed off stones was something on the beach to draw attention to the viewers eyes and I think it perfectly blends into the image. It gives a bit of drama at the bottom of the image and peace in the skyline.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon PowerShot SX170 IS, with an 5mm at 1/25 sec. f/3.5 lens. I had no tripod or other equipment with me at the time.Inspiration
I was looking for a place to shoot the sunset. I wanted something to be in the photo besides the sky and I found these stones all over the beach so thought why not. It's perfect! I really love it the way it turned out.Editing
In this particular photo I used Adobe Lightroom to highlight the sky and reduce shadows of the stones. Because I have more experience now I would only highlight the sky and leave the rest as it is. I am glad that I see things differently now. It has been 5 years though... And I always prefer to do as less retouching as possible. In my camera bag
My equipment has changed a lot since this photo has been taken. I still have my old camera but I can not imagine my bag without Canon EOS 70D, lenses 24mm and 50mm, extra battery, camera cleaning kit, a tripod, an ND, ND2, ND4 filters that I am still learning on how to correctly use them and a couple of memory cards just in case. A macro lense would be a dream come true!Feedback
Be prepared for the weather changes and take a look at where to position yourself best when you arrive. Keep in mind that a lot depends on the photographer no matter what equipment you are with at the time. It might not be perfectly sharp image but still a great capture. Live in the moment and do your best to capture it. If I had another chance I would be more prepared on camera settings and use of a tripod.
