Location
This photo was taken not far from Morgan in South Australia on a friends large block of vacant land (set up as camp site/get away place) being far from the city the sky at night is very clear and the beautiful. I was experimenting with long exposures and the Live Time and Live Comp settings on the Olympus.Time
This was taken late one night around 11pm ( from memory) I had tried several different spots and found this was just far enough away from the camp fireLighting
After trying several spots I found this area to be exactly what I wanted to get lighting wise from the camp fire, as this was a long exposure the lighting of the trees is from the camp fireEquipment
The equipment is Olympus OMD-EM1, 12-40mm lens & tripodInspiration
I was inspired by star trails which is what I was initially trying for, but as I am impatient and wanted to get lots of shots I started experimenting with long exposures to see what I could get. This was about my 4th attempt at getting the image you see I am still amazed at how far away the camp fire was to where I was set up and got the shot.Editing
No post processing straight from the CameraIn my camera bag
Depends on what I want to go out and shoot,I use to always try and carry almost every piece of equipment i had ( Just in case!) but since than I reduce the amount i carry.I always have the Oly OMD EM1.12-40 & 25MM lens. I also always carry my Joby, spare batteries, ND Filter & note pad and pen.Feedback
Try and be patient to get what you want or the image you see in your mind, move around, experiment & try different settings to see what the camera will produce. At the time I didn't realise my ISO was so high, If I had my time again I would have reduced it.
