This photograph was taken on I-580 on way to Yosemite National Park from Sunnyvale, CA..Time
This photograph was taken at 7 AM PST.Lighting
The photograph was taken in natural light. It was cloudy and very windy.Equipment
Camera - Canon T3i, Lens - Canon EF 75-300. No flash and tripod used.Inspiration
I was an hour late to start from home. It was very cloudy and windy. When I was about to reach this particular spot, the clouds just started to clear and the sky turned golden. I found a place to pull over my car. The scene was just mesmerizing. I clicked few shots and then waited for the clouds to clear just enough that I could see the sun as a whole. Since it was very windy the blades of the windmills were rotating very fast. I wanted to capture each of them distictly, so had to increase the shutter speed to the max. Also, since I wanted to capture the Sun's mood - the glare.. I had the aperture wide open.Editing
Yes .. some minor post processing done. Exposure was decreased a bit and cropped the photograph. In my camera bag
18-55 Kit lens, 24-105 lens, 75-300 lens, Graduated ND filters and polarizers,Feedback
The biggest thing to mention here was to have patience. I had to wait for good 15-20 mins for the clouds to clear just the way I wanted. I was late by an hour to start from home, which usually doesn't happen and was cursing myself for the delay .. but destiny had something else. So take it easy .. Most of the things happen for good. Again, being delayed on schedule, I was in a hurry .. but when I reached this place.. I didn't mind spending 30-45 mins, because I knew THIS was MY chance. When you find such interesting surroundings, do not hesitate to spend some more time.
