Last night was one of the best sunsets at my favorite place Dianchi Lake Kunming China. I also took this opportunity to try out the Cannon EOS camera app. with my phone and was really happy with the simple controls and ease of function. Enjoy!!!

Location
This photo was taken in Kunming China at a lake not to far from my house. My wife and I often visit this place in hopes of great sunsets and reflections from the water. Unfortunately living in Asia and the large population of the city, the best spots are usually taken well before the sun ever begins to set except for this rare night.Time
Sunset, one of my favorite times of the day.Lighting
Catching the sun just before it went behind the mountain was crucial for this shot as was the reflection in the water with the many colors from the setting sun.Equipment
I always use my Canon 6D with a 24-105mm lens for this photo on a tripod of course. One of the unique things about this photo is that it was taken remotely using the EOS app. for my phone.Inspiration
My love for sunsets is what really inspired me. The lake is usually full of people and all the viewing platforms are normally filled which normally drives me away from this place. However on this evening a wedding party had just left the viewing platform as I walked up giving me the perfect spot.Editing
This photo was processed using Adobe Lightroom. I always use Lightroom for all of my photo's. If any other touch ups are needed to be made I use Adobe Photoshop, along with The Nic Collection and Aurora HDR Pro for any of my HDR work.In my camera bag
In my bag I always carry my Canon 6D body with a 24-105mm lens, which is a great lens for all around use. A Canon16-35mm 2.8L Wide angle Lens which I normally use for all my landscapes photo's and a Canon 50mm 1.4 prime lens. I also have a 430 Ex111 flash, filters, Spare batteries everywhere, tripod, remote timer, and other goodies.Feedback
Never give up. What I mean is, if the day has been rainy or overcast I have found at sunset the clouds usually break allowing some of the most gorgeous sunsets to occur but only for a short time. Take your time and sticking it out to the end will give you some of the best results. Also experimenting with your settings, being creative and having fun is the most important part of photography.
