Location
This is a picture of Pulpit Rock on the Nahanni River NWT. It was taken during a 14 day white water canoe trip. We pulled off the river to climb the cliff side.Time
This was taken just when the afternoon sun had shifted in the sky and allowed the brilliant blue colour of the water to emerge.Lighting
In the high north, the 24 hour summer daylight makes days and nights blend together but if you spend enough time outside, you can feel the difference in the light as the sun moves around the horizon.Equipment
I travel light so just my camera.Inspiration
This was a once in a lifetime experience and demanded that a once in a lifetime picture be taken.Editing
Usually I need to adjust the exposure a bit to bring out the colours and the contrast. I straighten the horizon and ensure that the viewer’s eye s drawn to what I think is the most important. In my camera bag
The camera, extra memory card.Feedback
Take pictures wherever you go and document the journey of your life. It’s amazing how much one can forget as time marches on. A single photo can bring back a wealth of feelings and memories of that time. It’s worth carrying that camera around just for that alone.
