Behind The Lens

Location

The beautiful small village of Sayulita in Nayarit province of Mexico has many spots for taking photos, however, Playa de Los Muertes is one of my favorite spots. A small hidden bay beside the playa is shown here.

Time

In order to reach this spot I had to climb over some rough rocks, holding the camera, tripod, and helmet! In the end, it paid off, waiting for the sunset which was quite colorful that day. This is definitely the best photo that I made at Playa which I visited quite often.

Lighting

Nothing better than sunrise and sunset. Get the app that will tell you if you will have a great sunset or not. Something like "Golden Hour" can help a lot.

Equipment

This was the first year that I used my new Fuji XT-3 on a tripod. Aperture 8/1?ISO 80?Shutter 17/1?Focal Length 18/1? No filters.

Inspiration

I liked the setting, the branch that was "hugging" the rocks in the background, and the colorful sunset were perfect for that long exposure that I was looking for.

Editing

A bit of tweaking the exposure, saturation, and dogging and burning some spots were needed to bring it to the picture that I had in my mind.

In my camera bag

I usually take with me just one camera with one lens! If I do not have a goal for that day it is Fuji 100F. If I plan to take photographs in a new city or just drive around I take Fuji X-T30 and if I have a plan and know what and where to take pictures of, then I would take the Fuji X-T3. What can I do? I am a Fuji freak!
