Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Historic Downtown Clinton. Most people photograph the old mill in the front by the waterfall but I decided to look at it from a different angle and photograph it from the back of the river to see the stunning reflections.

Time

This photo was taken around noon in the summer.

Lighting

The lighting is very bright and even which allows the viewers to focus on the subject.

Equipment

I took this photo with my Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. I did not use any other equipment and used a very long zoom.

Inspiration

I did not plan on photographing the mill; I was mainly photographing birds and flowers at the time but when I saw the reflection of the mill in the water I was compelled to photograph it. The red mill is generally photographed from the front where there is a long waterfall and it is a very striking view. However, looking at the mill from a different angle, we are able to see a different element of beauty in its surroundings.

Editing

I adjusted the colors in photoshop to make them more realistic.

Photograph everything around you! You never know what your winning shot will be, I was not planning on photographing the mill on that particular outing but this turned out to be my favorite photo from that day!
