Location
This panoramic shot was taken in Dominican Republic, at the Valle Nuevo National Park, about 1500 m and 2 C degrees The Piramid is the division between two Towns (Constanza and Ocoa)Time
As you know this is a mix of planificated photo and a lucky day, Good weather, new Moon, low dust and just staying shooting while other sleeps, about 12 am to 2 amLighting
Used some flash light to paint and iluminated the Piramid, and a flash light for the tent.Equipment
Im using a NIkon D750 with a 14mm 2.8F lens. My Manfrotto tripod and some heavy clothes cause even as we are in the Caribbean, at this spot the temperature can go as los as -8 C.Inspiration
I always wonder if this was a good spot to shoot the MIlky Way but This was like my fourth attemp to do this shot with no luck, always rainy or foggy, by the way is always a little foggy, but that afternnoon all weathers channels coincide in few clouds, low Sahara Dust and no rain, so I head to the mountains with to friends (not photographers), pop up a bottle of wine and just wait .Editing
For post processing had to stiched the photos for the panoramic and as usual had to separe the foregroung and the background, to pop up some details on the sky and white balance. In my camera bag
My Nikon D750, Macro lens, 24-70mm, 14mm, 11-22mm and 70-200mm, some flash, remotes, flahs lights, Spanish red wine and my Cell for plan and weather check.Feedback
well, just try to locate a good spot with all the ingredients (Low light contamination, Not cloudy, new Moon or near ) know your location with day light, plan the shot and go for it.
