The photo was taken on a back country run on top of Happo-one in Nagano, JapanTime
It was mid afternoon after almost 4 hours of hiking in knee deep snow to get to the top of the hillLighting
The light was a mixture of sun and reflection from the snow covered mountain top.Equipment
Unfortunately, this day was an exploratory day so all we had on us were our phones. This was shot on the IPhone I owned at the time. I still enjoy how it came out.Inspiration
We got to the top finally and my buddy and I were looking down the mountain trying to find a good line to take, and I noticed the clouds in the background and told him to buckle up and stay still.Editing
I used Lightroom classic to edit this photo. Fixed the white balance and amplified the red to make it pop out even more than it already did.In my camera bag
I shoot Canon. My newest bag item is the Canon R6 mark II with sigma glass. I’m still learning just how far I can push it but it was a nice upgrade from my Canon R.Feedback
Don’t get caught up in what gear you have. By this I mean if you see a great composition in the moment and you only have your phone on you, take it anyway. Even if you plan on coming back with your rig, there is no guarantee that the conditions will be like that again. Some of my favorite and most liked images are taken from a phone camera.
