Brilliant. I'd like to see it with the boat and golf course slightly lower with a little more ski to even out the composition but it works great as is with the dingy as the main element

A one in a million shot. Without the boat the ambiance would have been lost. I agree that a little more sky would have made the shot perfect.

Location
This photo was taken at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages, Florida. One hole of the championship golf course is on the edge of Lake Sumter.Time
It was in the morning, about 30 minutes after sunrise. There was no wind and a light haze in the distance. It was a very quiet and peaceful morning.Lighting
The time was 7:15 AM, shortly after sunrise on a partly cloudy summer morning. The morning sun can be quite harsh in the Florida summers, but there were just enough clouds and haze to soften the light a bit.Equipment
This was shot handheld with a Canon 5D Mark III and a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens. Camera settings: 1/100 second, f/8, ISO 100. Lens at 200mm with optical stabilization on. I was on the boardwalk, shooting across the lake, zoomed in at 200mm to fill the frame. I enjoy shooting landscapes with telephoto lenses. It allows you to "focus" on a particular area or feature of the landscape.Inspiration
It was a beautiful Florida summer morning. It was a calm morning, partly sunny, on the lake and the birds were singing. A perfect Florida morning. I wanted that peaceful, serene feeling to come through in the photo.Editing
I use Adobe Lightroom for basic exposure adjustments, then process in Photoshop to remove minor distractions (trash, etc.) and perform color correction. I've tried various other apps for photo processing over the years, but always come back to Lightroom and Photoshop. In my camera bag
At that time, I had recently upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark III, a great all-around camera. I usually carried a Canon 16-35mm f2.8L II wideangle zoom, Canon 24-105mm f4/L, and my trusty Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO DG EX HSM OS. I've had that lens for 6 or 7 years now and I still love it. I also had, and still have, a MeFoto Backpacker aluminum travel tripod. I purchased it then because it was a quality tripod for a reasonable price. It's survived salt and sand and is still serving me well.Feedback
I love shooting in the morning. It's a beautiful time of day, especially in Florida. My best photos have been taken anywhere between the morning blue hour before sunrise through the golden hour after sunrise. It's a great way to start the day and I find that the peace I find at that time of day is often captured by the camera.
