I took this photo while attending the Photoshop World conference in Orlando. This was just a small part of one of the displays, in a room lit by ugly fluorescent lights. Thanks to some of the skills I learned at the conference, I was able to "re-light" the photo in Photoshop. If you've never been to Photoshop World, you really should check it out. It was a great (and fun!) learning experience.Time
Probably about 1:30 in the afternoon, but it was indoors, so it didn't really make any difference.Lighting
Ugly fluorescent lights in a large conference room. The lantern had a battery operated light inside, which provided the best light. The photo was edited in Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance to light from the lantern and minimize the ambient light from the overhead fluorescents.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon EOS R, with the RF 24-105 f4L lens at 90mm. The camera was handheld, at 1/125 sec, f5.6 and ISO 6400. I always shoot RAW to give me the most latitude while editing. I normally try to avoid such a high ISO, but wasn't using a flash and wanted to take advantage of the lovely lantern glow.Inspiration
This was part of a very detailed set, designed by Gilmar Smith, being used for a live model shoot. I was impressed by the amount of detail in the set and this part just grabbed my attention. It really was amazing, but there was SO MUCH there that taking a wide shot would have resulted in a very busy photo. So I decided to zoom in on specific parts, simplify the scene.Editing
I used Lightroom for color balance, lens correction and general exposure adjustments. I then edited the photo in Photoshop, mostly "re-lighting" the photo by sampling the color of the light from the lantern and gently brushing in highlights in a soft light blend.In my camera bag

Don't be afraid to shoot higher ISOs! Zoom in, fill the frame. Don't be afraid to take a class, go to a conference, invest in yourself. And if the light sucks, make your own.
