This photo was taken during a morning boat ride down Milford Sound, New Zealand.Time
It was an early morning. Pretty cloudy. A perfect dramatic setting for this waterfall!Lighting
I wanted to have long shutter speed to get the silky water effect, but not to long so I could get the little waterdrops being taken by the wind. Obviously I didn’t want any glittering on the water to create the vein effect.Equipment
Just my Nikon camera with tamron 18-300mm lens.Inspiration
It is one of the famous waterfalls of New Zealand’s Milford Sound. This photo basically shows you why.Editing
Made it look slightly colder. The greens are very green and the water is truly this blue! So not much colour correction was needed. With some contrast and just a little saturation, I created a more fairytale-like image. In my camera bag
I sometimes take a tripod. But 9/10 times I just go out with one lens and my camera. For me it usually is about the story you can tell with a photo, not the equipment.Feedback
Don’t forget water is blowing on your lens when you’re getting close to a waterfall. It would be shitty to come home with a good shot that you can’t fix because water on the lens has ruined it!
