Location
This was taken in my house while my dog was laying on my bed.Time
This was mid morning.Lighting
The lighting was something that instantly caught my eye with this image. It was natural morning window light falling perfectly on my dog.Equipment
Nikon D600 Nikon 85mm 1.8Inspiration
I was walking past my bedroom and glanced over to see my dog laying so comfortably on my bed with the most beautiful light coming through the window. I turned to grab my camera and took a few shots of her as she kept her eye on me the entire time.Editing
I actually did do a bit of processing with this image. The blanket she was laying on was bright blue with a very bright minion on it. I knew when I grabbed my camera that the blanket was not going to work for the vision I had for this image. I took the blue out of the blanket and cloned out the parts of the minion you could see. I also used my own brush to enhance the window light by adding very subtle rays. The light was already perfect, I just wanted to enhance ever so lightly. I also slightly dodged her face. With my final edit, I was still after a warmer, nostalgic feel. I added a bit of warmth and ended by adding a Jessica Drossin texture called murmer. In my camera bag
My Nikon D600 and Nikon 85 1.8mm film lens. I've had this lens for over 20 years now.Feedback
Look at the light around your subjects. Lighting creates such emotion and mood.
