Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in a parking deck that was still under construction. ...yes, we trespassed in under a fence!

Time

It was late afternoon. I remember because we were late for a concert in order to keep shooting!

Lighting

The lighting was just ambient light from the sun. The shot doesn’t feature exceptionally strong light because we were in the middle levels of the parking deck during this portion of the shoot.

Equipment

Just my Canon 6D and Tamron 28-75 2.8. No reflector, no other lenses.

Inspiration

Uhhhh... well, the photo is of my girlfriend and I adore taking her photo. But as far as the location or outfit or mood, it’s just a part of what makes my art unique to me. This is my eye, this is how I see. You’re seeing my art as it comes from deep down in me.

Editing

Of course. Photography is mostly in the editing. My new editing style is more along the lines of natural warmth, subtle sharpness, and vivid colors. I’m not muting my work anymore.

In my camera bag

I keep the same things I listed above in my bag. Canon 6D, Tamron 28-75 2.8, spare batteries. There are some other odds and ends but I almost never deviate from the norm.

Feedback

As you shoot more, your eye for all the little details will become sharper. As your eye becomes sharper, your vision starts to become more realized. It takes time to produce work you’re truly proud of but staying with it will get you there! Also, pick a software to edit and learn all the ins and outs! I used Photoshop’s Camera Raw really early on but once I discovered Lightroom, I never went back. That program does everything I need.
