Location
I took this photo in the Kinderdijk - The NetherlandsTime
I remember that day very well. It was a beautiful day when I arrived at the location. Not much wind, not enough clouds but I wanted to test my newly purchased Big-stop. Suddenly there was a lot of wind, the sky was filled with gray clouds and I was in the middle of a hurry. As suddenly as the flurry came, so suddenly it stopped raining. I ran quickly to the spot where the sun became very lightly visible among the clouds. I positioned everything and that was my first recording with my new Big-stop. It remains one of my favorite images.Lighting
The light was perfect because it was still dormant behind the sun. By using the Big stopper I was able to visualize this nicely.Equipment
This shot was taken with my first reflexcamera: Nikon D5300, Sigma 17-20mm f/2.8, tripod and the Big Stopper from Haida.Inspiration
I had already seen many pictures of the Kinderdijk and I definitely wanted to visit this place for a photo shoot. The combination of the water with the mill and the bridge were ideal for photographing with LE.Editing
I have just adjusted the contrast, the white balance and the brightness. Because I always shoot in "Manual" and the use of the Big stopper, I didn't have to change much.In my camera bag
It depends on what I am going to photograph but for evening photography, landscape and architecture I always have the Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 and tripod with me. In addition, I also have a remotecontrol and timer with me so I can easily shoot in "bulk". I am now photographing with a NIKON D500Feedback
The most important are the preparations. Weather is an important factor but also where and when the sunrises and -sets are. In Belgium and the Netherlands you have beautiful locations to photograph sea landscapes. Here it is important to also check the times of the tides so you know when the water is high or low. And what is important for every type of photography is patience!
