I came to White Sands National Park to catch the Milky Way and to catch the bonus of a sunset-sunrise as I wandered the park at night. I love that the galaxy is shining through the clouds and pointing straight at the lone silhouette. Awesome composition.

Location
White Sands New Mexico. I hiked into the dunes and literally marked spots in the sand so that I could easily return in the dark of night.Time
This was taken around midnight.Lighting
Light from a nearby city gives color to the clouds.Equipment
Sony a7ii Rokinon 14mm 2.8Inspiration
I was looking to provide the scale of the sand dune with the cloud and stars in the backdrop of the beautiful skies.Editing
I used Lightroom for post processing. In my camera bag
Headlamp, tripod, extra batteries and several lenses.Feedback
I love clouds at night. We often like to shoot the stars with no clouds in the sky, but I find that clouds can give so much more character to the image.
