Thanks. Model makers actually - this is a shot of an 8 foot sculpture created by Weta Workshop. They are real wizards at their craft

This shot was taken in doors under artificial lighting – not ideal.Equipment
A Nikon D750 and a 24-120 F4 lens. For this shot the zoom setting was 46mm, ISO 400, F4 and shutter 1/30 sec.Inspiration
This sculpture by Weta Workshop of the Pale Orc is about 8 feet tall and beautifully rendered to the finest detail – typical of the Weta Workshop stuff. Aside from being a bit of a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan, this sculpture just exudes menace and brute power. When you look into his eyes you get the feeling that he means to obliterate you.Editing
Yes, because the backdrop to the Pale Orc is an ugly commercial building, I had to completely back off everything around him using adjustment layers. Also the usual refinements in Camera RAW.In my camera bag
I love the mountains, so as little as possible - at present a Nikon D750 camera body, a Nikkor 24-120 small zoom and the 55-300 bigger zoom, a spare battery and lightweight tripod - good for hiking. If I'm going for a summit then it's even less - a compact Lumix TZ2200 with mirrorless through the lens digital view finder, full manual operation and RAW file capture - absolutely great when you still want to control your photography but need to keep moving and can't afford to have stuff hanging off you.Feedback
In this age of RAW digital files and Photoshop you don’t necessarily need advanced studio lighting and a tripod to get nice creative images. Just set your creativity free, even if you don’t have the ideal gear with you.
