Never realized a fruit-fly wing could look like this with the right lighting and background. I didn't purposely plan to take this picture but happened unplanned while taking a macro pic of a fruit fly. After taking this it got me curious as to why fly wings are typically transparent but if the light hits them a certain way with a black background this is the result. After researching online I came across this which explains why: http:--phenomena.nationalgeographic.com-2011-01-03-forget-butterflies-wasps-and-flies-have-hidden-rainbows-in-their-wings-

I took this photo of an annoying fruit-fly that fell victim to a fruit-fly trap I made at home one day.Time
Shortly in the afternoon when I got home from work and was trying to think of a new macro picture to take, Macro photography is my favorite!Lighting

This is where it gets interesting for me. I love macro photography but do not have a DSLR anymore :( However I do have a GoPro, one day I came across a video on how to hack a GoPro to shoot Macro. It worked good but I still didn't get the results I got when I had a DSLR setup for shooting macro, I started thinking I could take the hack a little further and took it all apart and started trying different things with it. I work with electronics for a living and enjoy taking stuff apart to see what makes something work the way it does. Now I figured out a way to take microscopic pics with a gopro and eventually plan on designing a new case to have 3D printed so I can rearrange the motherboard and lens. GoPro did good designing their camera and not wasting any space inside the case but makes it difficult for some other ideas i have.Inspiration
I love close up photography, its a whole different world waiting to be explored. Annoying fruit-flies inspired me.Editing
Yes I did. This wing was about 30 shots that I focused stacked in Photoshop and there were a few small spots I needed to touch up.In my camera bag
A gopro held together with electrical tape, ring-light, focus rail and a tiny piece of paper i use as a diffuser so the lighting inst too harsh and a little platform for my subject.Feedback
