Thanks Tammy- all I did was find the drop I liked, focused on the sparkle and made sure the camera was aimed towards the view I wanted.. You have some lovely photos.

Location
The photo was taken in my garden looking up towards a small hill.Time
An early morning start was required as I wanted to be ready for sunrise.Lighting
Nature provided the beautiful morning light with the sun shining through the dew drop. I chose a reasonably small aperture (f9) to get the starburst effect while still allowing for good background blurEquipment
A Canon 7D with and EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. A tripod stabilized the camera and focus was achieved using live view. This has the added advantage of locking the mirror up to reduce shake. A remote trigger was also used.Inspiration
I was looking for interesting dew drops to photograph. When I found this large drop one on a long blade of grass and saw the potential. It was then a matter of positioning the camera so I could see the sunlight coming through the drop. Luckily I was on a slope and I could easliy get the camera lower than the drop and look up the hill to the sun.Editing
Post processing was very minimal and involved a crop, removal of some distracting fibrous filaments from the back of the grass blade. A slight increase in contrast completed the process. In my camera bag
I have now upgraded to the Canon 5Diii, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I generally pack two lenses depending on what I am planning to photograph. If I am going on a nature walk I take my favourite lens,100mm 2,8 lens, and and a 17-40mm lens. My tripod is a lightweight but if going for a longer walk I take a gorilla pod instead.Feedback
Macro shots are great because the small world is accessible to everyone. I didn't have to venture further than my own garden. A similar photo in a urban area could be very interesting. All that is required is to know when the sun will rise and where from, and then slow down to look for interesting opportunities.
