This photo was taken in my home studio in MalaysiaTime
It would have been taken in late afternoon. At the end of most sessions we try and do things for fun to add something different to the mixLighting
I always use large light sources for a soft even light. In this case it would have been a single Elinchrom BRX 500 in a Phottix 72" Para-Pro modifier to camera left. Probably about 4' away. I feather the light using the edge of the modifier.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D MKIII, Canon 70-200 f2.8.Inspiration
The idea came from trying to blow the subjects hair using a fan, but her hair was too heavy, so we tried to waft it using a piece of card, still too heavy, then a hairdryer, but still didn't work. So I had my MUA one side and my assistant the other side and on the count of 3 they threw the hair up. That worked out pretty good.Editing
Yes, I colour correct in Lightroom, then move into Photoshop. In Photoshop I remove blemishes from the skin using Frequency Separation technique, then I desaturate the image then add a vignette. I don't have a lot of patience with Photoshop before I get bored, so my post processing is limited to 20 minutes. This is the reason I spend more time getting the lighting correct during the shoot, so I don't have to do much work in post.In my camera bag
Because I shoot in the most part in a studio, my equipment isn't in a bag, however if I was to go anywhere the equipment I would have to have is: Canon 5D MKIII, Canon 70-200 f2.8, Sigma 50mm Art 1.4, Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT.Feedback
There isn't anything particularity complex about this shot, good quality large light source for softlight and a subject who is up for a little fun at the end of a shoot. The set-up itself isn't the hard part, having a confident subject makes the shot.
