My vision was to capture the sun streaming through the golden oak tree, the fog making the atmosphere seem surreal. I maybe had time to take about 10 shots (Exposure 1/50, f/11, ISO 100)Equipment
Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 60D Lens: EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Focal Length: 19mm Exposure: 1/50 sec, f/11, ISO 100 Tripod: Gitzo, Model GT3530LSInspiration
I stumbled across this scene while driving to breakfast after a somewhat uneventful morning of photography. My fiancé and I were in Yosemite National Park for a quick weekend trip in hopes of capturing some of the beautiful fall color we knew the Valley could offer. We were coffee-deprived, starved, and slightly discouraged after attempting a sunrise shot at the famous Tunnel View. While making our way to breakfast, we rounded the corner on Northside Drive, and my jaw literally fell to the ground as we approached this neon glowing meadow. The sun was barely peaking over the mountains, creating soft sweeping side lighting through this thick low-hanging fog. I literally jumped out of the moving car before my fiancé could slam on the brakes, and sprinted across the road-- sweating, shaking, dropping filters, accidently bumping other photographers with my tripod. I knew I only had about 1.5 minutes to make this shot happen. Once I got set up, I realized this was a simple shot, and I just needed to make sure my tripod was steady in the soft, uneven ground of the meadow.Editing
Post processing was a cinch as the beauty of the image really spoke for itself. In my camera bag
