I was in a dark snow cave to photograph from the perspective of a buried person. Like the dog handlers do it in the training. It was a narrow cave and when they closed the entrance you could not see your own hands . Only when the dog has opened the snow pack some light was shining from behind. I could not use a flash not to scare the dogs. I had just a little LED light to give some light from the front. The photo is made with high ISO.Equipment
Nikon D4, Nikkor 24-70mm, small LED lightInspiration
I was invited from the avalanches rescuedog team to capture there work with the camera. The main task of avalanche rescue dogs is to find buried persons. It was a thought of the dog handlers and me capture this moment when the buried person is found by the dog. A big challenge for me and my camera. I spent an hour in the dark cold snow cave. The dogs have done such a great job. The moment when the dog finds and digs you is indescribably. I have tried to capture this moment. It was a pleasure to show the world the importent work they do with their dogs!Editing
I shoot only in RAW files. The editing in Lightromm and Photoshop is an important part of my work.In my camera bag
It is an older photo. Now I have in my bag a Nikon D5, Nikon D850, Nikkor 24-70mm, Nikkor 80-400mm, Sigma 150mm macro, Nikon SB-900Feedback
Please don't use a flash light! I just use a small LED for some light from the front. You need a lens with an aperture as open as possible I used f2.8. Waits until the dog has opened the snow pack a little bit to get some light in to the cave. Photograph in RAW so you have more possibilities in the post processing. Good luck and have fun !
