Location
This photo was taken in my attic using simple lighting and backdrop.Time
It was taken inside in the middle of the day but I used blackout curtains to control the lighting.Lighting
This was my first time experimenting with indoor lighting. I purchased an inexpensive set of lights from amazon and played around with angling the light in different ways.Equipment
I use very basic equipment still. Nikon D3100 with a 50 mm 1.8 lens a black backdrop and 700 watt soft box lighting.Inspiration
I love taking photographs of my children I typically do out door shoots but I was asked to do the local preschool and dance school's portraits so the kids and I got some practice before hand and this photo was one of my favorite results.Editing
I use photoshop for all of my post processing. With children photography I usually do skin and eye touch ups not a whole lot more.In my camera bag
I am way over due for an upgrade, I have produced some amazing photography with my Nikon D3100 with the 50 mm and the 35 mm the last few yearsFeedback
It is important to have total control of the lighting in the room so you can cast the shadows as you wish. With children I tend to take a ton of shots to get the right one. Make sure you smile and have fun
