Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my home studio in Raymond, NH

Time

This was taken in the evening the night before my son was born.

Lighting

Lighting was one constant fluorescent above to light the backdrop, two constant fluorescents on stands, and one Nikon SB-600 speedlight with softbox.

Equipment

Nikon D7000, Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, Nikon SB-600

Inspiration

This photo is of my wifes belly the day before her scheduled C-section. We were told for 9 months we were having a girl. The next day my wife gave birth to my second beautiful boy. Maverick Joseph.

Editing

Post was done to clean up her stretch marks a little on her belly and to convert to black and white.

In my camera bag

Nikon D600, SB-600, Bower 14mm, Nikon 28-80mm 3.3-5.6, Nikon 50mm f1.4D, Nikon 70-210 f3.5-6, cable release, Nikon remote, Manfrotto 190xl tripod

Feedback

Be patient and let the light work for you. If its not working out reposition the lighting. Not every good shot happens first try. This was about my fifth shot before getting it right.
