Location
I usually do this kind of shoots in my garage. I set up on my table saw that is in one corner. I usually get great lighting from the afternoon sun shining through the back door windows.Time
It was 4:45 pm. Late in the day for a February shoot.Lighting
The sun was at a very nice position to get a nice side lighting affect on my subject, that gave me the shadows I was hoping to get. I changed my White Balance to Tungsten Lighting just for a different color look.Equipment
I used my Sony a65 with a Minolta 50mm lens, set up on my tripod. I used a cabled shutter release to avoid camera shake from the slow shutter speed.Inspiration
I was looking to compose a few unique photos utilizing "found" inexpensive items. I have always enjoyed using my hands to create something out of found items or thrown away parts and materials whether it be metal, wood, glass or in this case, medium weight business card paper trimmings.Editing
I processed the photo in Adobe Light Room. I wanted a different color than the original off white. I thought the bluish color worked fine for my project. In my camera bag
I always have my Sony a65 camera with one or two Minolta lenses, one being a 50mm and the other a telephoto "beercan" lens. I usually always have my Tamron 90mm macro lens on my camera. With the usual cleaning media and my must have Giotto's Rocket Air Blaster, and shutter releases.Feedback
Use your imagination, be patient, learn the rules of photography, as it is very useful and will make the difference in your composed shots. As Pablo Picasso once said "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” In my words, Let your imagination lead you and just have fun.
