Location
During a hike in Bryce Canyon. All these amazing views around me, and yet my favorite shots that day are the macro of what was on the trail.Time
Early afternoon. Bright, hot sunny day.Lighting
It was such a bright day that all I needed to do was make sure shadows didn't disrupt the natural flow of the wood.Equipment
Canon Rebel T2i - efs 18-55mm lens. No flash, no tripod.Inspiration
My father is a woodworker and I remember "hunting" for burls with him when I was a young girl. He was always so excited when he'd find a good one and I was always amazed at the beauty inside of the weird looking piece of wood.Editing
a little contrast and sharpening. In my camera bag
Nifty fifty, zoom lens, ND8 filter from Hoya, and lens wipe (it rains a lot here!).Feedback
For detail, I always try to make sure the best part is what is in focus. Since this wood was falling apart naturally, it was not possible to have every point in focus, so I chose what I thought was the most interesting part.
