This photo was taken at the famous Ink N Iron Tattoo & Music Festival in Long Beach, Ca. Unfortunately...It's now defunct.Time
Taken on a hot summer day in June of 2014. Around 2 PM...Probably 85-90 degrees out. Yet you'd never know by the fresh look of the pin-up model. "Never let 'em see you sweat", was her motto.Lighting
She was posing for various would be photographers. I was lucky to be one. The sun was beating down on us, no light to bounce. Had to tweak my settings and hope for the best. Johnny on the spot, so to speak!Equipment
I used my trusty work horse. My Canon 7D and my favorite go-to lens, my Tamron 70-200 F 2.8.Inspiration
I seek opportunities. But I never plan pics. I saw this beautiful pin-up model, chewing up scenery, in the best way. She had amazing tattoos and was wearing colors that would pop like a rocket on camera. So...I ran in!Editing
Editing, is always very basic with me. A bit of contrast, adjust exposure, add a bit of saturation and go easy on the sharpness. Frankly, her choice of colors did most of the work for me.In my camera bag
My camera bag always has my 2 go-to lenses, the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 and the Tamron 24-70. And of course, my beloved Canon 6D.Feedback
Because of the conditions, this was more or less street photography. Not to mention, I was shooting in the sun. Grab as many as you can. Worry more about composition than exposure. Because you have more control over that, when shooting on limited time. I definitely recommend chatting with your model, during the shoot. It'll loosen 'em up and you'll get a natural, spontaneous reaction.
