Location
This photo was taken in a storeroom at my home. The wasp had attached the nest over the doorway on the wall.Time
I was going into the storeroom in the morning, when a wasp flew by my head. I wondered where he was going and looked around, then I spotted the nest over the door.Lighting
There was no lighting in the storeroom and I relied on the flash.Equipment
Canon Powershot A3100I IS. with flash.Inspiration
When I spotted the nest, I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to try out the abilities of a new camera. The results surprised me.Editing
No post-processing was done at all, I was happy with the image as it was.In my camera bag
I carry a Canon Rebel T3i EOS 300D, Canon Powershot A3100 IS and a Canon FS200 Digital Video Camcorder, a Canon EF 75-150mm Telephoto Lens with a 2x multiplier, 4 screw-on Macro Lenses, A Manfroto Tripod, Manfroto Monopod, 2 Mini Tripods, Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT Flash, Multi-directional Micrphone, spare batteries, wet gear and cleaning gear. I'm prepared for any situation.Feedback
In this situation I was careful not to bother the subjects too much, for obvious reasons. The two wasp on the bottom of the photo were very busy building the nest and totally ignored my presence, but the little guy on top was on guard duty and was intently interested in what I was doing and watched my every move. I was very pleased with the amount of detail that was captured in the image.
