Thanks so much . . . you can't beat a dirty window for nice, soft light . . . =]

Location
This image was captured in a little-used staircase in a warehouse that is, for the most part, empty, though not abandoned. It provided us excellent light and plenty of places to shoot.Time
We captured this in the late afternoon of an overcast day - those are my favorite days for shooting.Lighting
I could not have asked for a better light source . . . an overcast sky and a huge, dirty window - which is my ideal lighting situation. I always look for dirty window - the dirtier, the better. Add in a very cloudy sky and you have almost magical light!Equipment
My only gear was my Nikon D2x with a 50mm, 1.8 . . . and that's it. I love to shoot with the bare minimum. I think the lack of a huge bag of lenses and strobes makes you get really creative with what you have.Inspiration
Betsy inspired it all . . . she's such a natural beauty and is so very creative. We talked all through the shoot - not about the shoot, but about all sorts of things . . . getting your subjects talking with you helps ease them into getting more intimate images.Editing
This was processed in Lightroom - I think version 4? No touching up needed for Betsy. In my camera bag
My two favorite lenses are a Sigma 10-20mm and a Nikon 50mm prime, 1.8 . . . I always carry extra cards an batteries.Feedback
Talk to your subjects . . . Don't lose yourself behind the camera. Engage with them and you'll get better shots . . . everytime.
