Location
This image was captured while inside one of the cars on the London Eye. Just as we started our assent, it started raining - of course, right? Those buildings you see blurred in the background include Big Ben's Clock tower, Parliament and Westminster Abbey. That's the Themes river you see, too . . . I did capture all of this in focus . . . but opted to do another shot, just focusing on the raindrops on the window of our Eye car . . . this remains one of my favorite shots of the trip!Time
This was just before dinner time . . . so around 5:30 London time . . . right after this, we boarded a boat for a charming dinner cruise on the River Themes.Lighting
The lighting was all natural light . . . I'll take clouds and a dirty window any day over strobes or artificial light . . . love the quality light they offer!Equipment
Shot this with a Nikon D5100 and a Sigma 10-20mm . . . no crazy equipment as we were headed for a dinner cruise right after our ride on the London Eye.Inspiration
A London rain storm is iconic . . . so are the buildings behind the rain . . . I wanted to capture that iconic storm and was in the right place at the exact right time.Editing
All my images are processed in Adobe Lightroom . . . some clarity and de-saturation was applied to the image. In my camera bag
I currently shoot a Nikon D500 . . . my go to camera when this was taken was my D2x. I have two favorite lenses that I've been shooting since 2009 . . . the Sigma 10-20mm and a Nikon 50mm, 1.8.Feedback
Always try and capture images that drive the imagination . . . even with the iconic images blurred out, most people quickly associate this image with London . . . don't be afraid to take a risk with your images. Most times, those risks pay off in a big way!
