The photo was taken at my house, more specific I took this photo in my dining room.Time
This is one of my favorite photo. I remember it was in the afternoon around 3pm, I just came back home from work and my errand. I bought a bunch of white flowers as my photography objects. I was practicing to take creative photo - still life photo to be precise. I set everything I need in my dining room because I have natural light in that room.Lighting
When I took this photo it was about 3pm, the sun still high and the sun ray shining through the window of my dining room and make the room bright. I was not short of natural light, I have lighting advantage at that hour. I have to be careful with the lighting because afternoon sun usually really bright, I do not let the sun shine to my object directly because the sun rays could white out the natural color of my objects. The room itself is bright enough to give good light to my object and the wall also help me with the lighting.Equipment
This photo was shot using Canon EOS R with 24-105mm lens, tripod and single pod.Inspiration
I am new in photography and in a process of find out my own niche. I like taking photo of nature, landscape, wildlife, urban. Since the lockdown my movement to take photos was very limited, so I have to come out with something that I can do it from home. I did my researched and came out with still life photo, creative photo. That is what inspired me to start taking photo of flowers.Editing
I did some post processing using Lightroom Classic. I used auto preset and it change slightly from my original photo and I did a bit of adjustment to the contrast, texture, clarity to bring out the brightness and beauty of the white of the flowers. I also did an adjustment to lights, blacks, darks to give contrast to the background, petals at the front and the back. For this particular photo I do want to have a bright flower with slightly darker on the background. It gives more dramatic contrast of the colors. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EOS R with 24-105mm lens - this camera is my Christmas gift from my family so I am in a process of looking and buying more lenses necessary. I also bring my bridge camera - wide angle, Canon PowerShot SX 50 HS, extra battery and memory cards. Tripod and singlepod, Lens cleaning cloth.Feedback
Still Life photo is a very interesting, unique photo style. You can do it anywhere, your home, backyard, front yard. Be creative. if you are using flowers, make sure you check the flowers before you buy it. You would like the flowers to be perfect, the petal, the leaves, no broken stem or bending, no wrinkle or dark color on petals, flowers should be full, fresh and bright. You can tell if the flowers new or old, just check. Also ask the person behind the counter to wrap the flowers carefully, open and put the flowers in the vase directly, do not wait. Find the right angle before you are taking any photo, check the lighting, where the sun shining through, do not let the sun hit the object directly. Decide what you would like to see from the object. Keep rearranging the flowers until you see the arrangement is perfect, try every angle possible to take the shot, Move it around so you can get the right lighting with natural light. This is the time for you to be creative, use one stem of flowers, use a bunch, take close up, take from the distance, put something in the background, on the foreground. The result is your creation, be patience and keep clicking until you got it right. One more thing, use Tripod - very useful for this kind of photography. :) Good luck!
