Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Derna, Bihor county, Romania. This lake was polluted irreversibly, as part of a chemical oil spill.

Time

This was taken mid afternoon under pretty harsh light.

Lighting

The area in this picture had a bit more shade and lended a hand with the harsh midday sun

Equipment

Shot on Sony A7 III, Tamron 28-75 f2.8, no other gear used.

Inspiration

This was actually the warm up of a long photo session during that day. It was a lucky shot as it felt very nicely balanced both on the subject and the background

Editing

Yes there was some processing on the skin as it was a bit uneven, you can still see some creases on the rear side of the model in fact :D the face was also retouched a bit to a more aggressive jawline/look which fit the swamp queen/fever idea.

In my camera bag

I carry the Tamron 70-180 and 28-75 f2.8s and my peak design travel tripod , a speedlight sometimes and a reflector all packed in my PD backpack.

Feedback

Such natural disasters can provide unique patterns. When used with the right model you can capture the essence of the place as I’ve attempted here.
