It seems to be the case that half of the time what I set out to shoot is not what I end up capturing! In this case I had scoped out the group of trees in the background which were covered in a thick frost and would have made a great macro shot of the ice. A landscape shot of the trees had the best vantage point on the other side of the river, which I couldn't cross. As I wandered around the large island in the river I noticed this creek running through, with a good angle looking up towards the valley. The rocks were a bit slippery to say the least, and this was the end result.
