This photo was taken on a backpacking trip into the wilderness surrounding Mount St Helens. The moon can be seen above the mountain as the sun is setting. The dark area in the lake isn't actually water; it is thousands of trees which have been floating in the lake since the catastrophic eruption of the mountain in 1980. The eruption of St Helens was the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic eruption in the history of the US.
