Location
I took this photo in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. It was late fall, just a few days before all the leaves fell off.Time
I wanted to get some photos of the autumn leaves before they were all gone. I knew the Uintah Basin would be a good place to capture these photos. I drove up in the evening and started looking around for the perfect shot. I saw this big beautiful tree and I walked straight over to it. Took several photos, then started back to my ride when I saw the path through the trees. I was so fixated on the single tree that I walked right by this pathway going in and didn't even see it. It was the best autumn photo I took that year and I almost missed it. Always look around and be aware of your surroundings.Lighting
The lighting was great. It was later in the evening and the light lit up the leaves as it shown through trees.Equipment
This image was shot with A Canon 77D with a 70-300 f/4-5.6 lens. It was shot at 70mm at f/5 ISO 100. I did not use a tripod because I laid on the ground to take the image. I wanted a low perspective.Inspiration
I had seen several images from other photographers of fall leaves. I wanted to get some images of the autumn leaves. Aspens change colors from green to yellow and even oranges and reds. Aspens make for amazing photos of fall.Editing
I did do a little post processing. The leaves were very vibrant to my eyes but the photo did not quite reflect that in the same intensity. So I played with the vibrance and saturation as well as the clarity, shadows and highlights to get the look I had seen.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon 6D full frame and a Canon 77D cropped sensor. As for lenses I have a 28-135mm wide angle lens, 70-300mm telephoto lens as I do wildlife and landscapes. I also have a Canon 50mm f.1.8, Sigma 100mm mocro lens and a Canon 600mm manual focus. I have a remote trigger, ND filters and polarizers.Feedback
The biggest thing is to get out and try and don't be afraid to make mistakes because that's how we learn. Look around and always be aware of what's around you cause you may walk right by it.
