Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken in Podgaric, a small place in Croatia.

Time

I was driving around with my family searching for a restaurant for a lunch. It was early afternoon, 2 p.m. We realised that we are entering in Podgaric, a small place known by the huge monument which was made 1967. by Croatian famous sculptor Dusan Dzamonja. We agreed to stop here and take a few minutes for a sightseeing.

Lighting

It was nice sunny day and the whole monument was bathed in sunlight. There was no need to use the flash.

Equipment

I used NIKON D3200 to take this photo. Photography is my hobby, so my equipment was the only I have.

Inspiration

Croatia (and other countries of ex Yugoslavia) is full of monuments dedicated to 2. world war. The most of them were made by recognized sculptors and have great artistic value, but unfortunately they are standing forgotten. This monument is one example of abstract plastic, which represents the stylized wings of freedom and victory. It was made in memory to the revolution of the people of Moslavina. Due to its beautiful composition and harmonious integration into the landscape, this monument is a wonderful photo object.

Editing

I didn't do any post-processing.

In my camera bag

As I already wrote, NIKON D3200 camera is my only equipment. Three years ago I had only a small Olympus digital camera. Sometimes I just take the photo with my mobile phone .I'm amateur in photography and I still don't have as much time as I would like to for my favorite hobby.

Feedback

For me was important to find the best position to take this photo. I wanted to capture the whole monument and show its size (it is 10 meters high and 20 meters wide), so I decided to make few steps down the hill. Of course, the sun was behind my back.
