The chirch was named for it's first pastor, H.R. Omer, when it was established in 1898 and it was moved to it's present location in 1910. The cemetery was established in 1820 by the Dillard family when a wagon train heading west stopped on the Dillard farm to tend to a sick child travelling with them. Unfortunately, the child passed away and Farmer Dillard donated a burial plot. Later, members of his family were buried there, including Mr' Dillard.
